  • Those cubes are great little units. I have them for travel amps.
  • and ive heard great reviews of the vox as a battery powered travel/busjing amp - iown the 30 watt version and i really like the tones.
  • thx Archon

Does the VOX AD30 or 15 have an Aux input so i can plug an ipod or similar into it so I can practice over Backing tracks

How are the Marshall sound sout of the VOX AD range?

    cheers
  • Hi- They don't have line In's... The Marshall Tones are great.. I looked at this as well as the Microcube and it was no comparison, teh Vox won me over hands down...You gotta try em on your own....
  • I'll have to throw a word in for the Vox. I own an AD30VT and love it. I would also add that though it wouldn't be considered an ideal amp for use with the GNX4, it has worked very well for me given the Vox's incredable \"tweekability\". After looking at many small combos, this was the winner hands down. Honestly, if someone were to force me to choose between that and the GNX, I would take my Vox (though forcing me to make the choice would be evil  ).
  • oh - i dont want to annoy a fellow VoX AD30 owner there TLF - but mine has a line in on the back..

i think the preamp modelling of the marshalls is quite good - but the speaker doesnt carry it off IMO. But it is still the best 30 watt amp i have heard so far - the Marshall MG30DFX sounded like mud (although the MG10CD sounds like sex!!) Some of the 30 watt fenders sound great bu tthey're really noisy = i liked thre Behringer v-ampire LX210 but its really heavy.

The Vox AD30VT is a great amp and that Valve poweramp makes all the difference, it exzcels at clean tones = id be gratefult for any tips jscott can give me for getting the GNX3000 to work with it = i gave up pretty quickly ( i really want a transparent amp!) - just wish it had an FX loop so you could put the GNX3000 (or Tonelab SE!!) through it. I cant vouch for the 15 watter or the 5 watt - but most peopl i know with taste (g3456 and Estreet) have said good things about the microcube.
  • oh sure.

don't know what the differances are between your 3000 and my GNX4, but aside from that :

turn down the gnxs output pot

guitar>gnx4>gnx4 right or left out to the vox (guitar in)

on the vox I choose a clean amp the AC15 has worked well. press the effects bypass. with the vox's level set to about half I slowly turned up the gnx's output pot until I got a volume equal to what I would have had without the gnx.

with a little tweaking of factory pres I get very good results.

    hope that helps
  • cool!

oh and TLF = i am sooooo sorry! you are copmpletely right - there is a line/headphone out not line in - how shtoopid am i??
  • LOL Archon...When I read your first post on the \"Line In\" I ran to the amp to see if therte was actually one there before reading further....funny....I had a small MG30 DFX marshall before the Vox and I thought it was absolutely nasty.. It wasn't responsive at all.... Most of the Crates in that range are pretty good sounding/feature packed as well but still nowhere near the VOX AD's
  • irreplacable.

    1 word: BATTERIES

Campfire amp. mini PA. great tones. CHEAP. Every guitar player I know has one. EVERY.

I have 2. Perfect for the deck, park, front porch. I've even taken it to jams. Can plug into a bass amp or pa for impromptu tones.
  • Ok. I have the DA5 and I really like a few of the features, one being the really cool WATTage switch on the back, so if you want to play quietly, you turn it to a 0.5 W amp! and turn UP the master volume!! That means the sound quality is better than other amps at the same volume!!! When you wanna go outside and bug your neighbor (with BATTERIES), you put the switch to the 1.5 W or 5 W setting and wail away! It means cool sound at all available levels. (on batteries). The possibilities are pretty good!

I get the GNX 3000 tomorrow, so I am a little excited, but the DA5 is alright!
  • I got the Red Microcube yesterday guys. Truly loving it. Plugged my ipod into the AUX IN and I was jamming over my backing tracks in no time. It helps me practice before I hook my GNX3000 up to record.

Like it a lot, thx for all help on my decision to buy.

    cheers!! :D
