http://www.cakewalk.com/download/default.asp#windows

man you gotta try this! i was exdpecting like a parametric eq or something with a subtle effects but i applied a factory preset to a wav ive already mixed and a/b'd the two versions = OMG!!! :D it makes everything sound much brighter and cleaner and just basically extremely darn kewl!!

im just trying the demo version (wich inserts silence every few seconds) - buit unless anyone has a good reason not to get it im about ready to lay my cash down right now!!

  • It's universally useful. Cakewalk did right hooking up with BBE.
  • oh yeh baby!

i was so impressed i bought the damn thing and just re-exported a couple of my old tracks to test = pretty impressive i can tell you!! like sprinkling magic dust over your songs :)

    you can hear them hear if you are interested;

old original varsions of Sneap and Crafty can be found in the GNX3000 song posting area - i havent changed any of the levels or mixing in anyway - all i did was apply the sonic maximiser plug in on the \"mastering\" default setting and it makes my old mixes sound like wooden muddy cardboard = this thing rox!

  • You should get the Behringer ex2200 and see what it does to your live sound?
  • cool Archon, gonna try the demo later. Loved the Snead. Wonder what the before maximization sounded like now...
  • Tried it out. Really nice Archon :) It seems to take away the abraisive noise from a song and replace it with sweet full sounding tones. Very simple to use interface.

If you like this you also might wanna check out Ozone.

If you add the preset \"4 Band Master with Excitation and Widening\" on top of the BBE it takes it one step further in that sweet sounding direction.
  • :D I have been a huge fan of BBE for 2 yrs since I got my hardware version of what you have. Nothing in my opinion is as good for the money as a BBE sonic maximizer for tweeking your sound. You should run it through your PA at a live practise it will make your system sound like you upgraded the cabnets...its that good. I love it when a product actually delivers everything it says it does. Congrats on your new purchase/ :P
  • yeh - im really impressed, as simple as a stompbox to control but has a massive affect on the sound - i dont play live (because im crap!) but i think something like this would be pretty cool in that situation.

nice find on the ozone demo grathan! a little more indeapth and technical but still very good - somewhat pricey and i think id be in danger of 'over' processing the track but if i had the cash id definately get ozone too! - just reading the helpfiles told me more about mixing in five minutes than i have learned so far!

man i used to record in 16 bit from pro tracks - now im burning discs with songs at 24 bit WAV having mixed them with the maximiser and ozone = isnt technology cool???? :P

It's definitely shiny. Makes me think more about polishing turds than writing decent music. Someday i hope both technology and my songwriting come together as one.
  • hey dood! dont diss the turd polishers!! that's all i do! :D

 Yea and if that turrd had extra corn and peanuts stuck to the side you could get one of those pieces pretty shiny with a BBE :lol:

 Point is if you do write somthing and you want to hear how it sounds it sure helps to get the clearest and best possible signal you can without just covering it all up in delay and reverb. With a BBE there 2 freekin knobs to turn not alot of technolgy to get lost in.
