Panning and phase
Recently ive started panning my guitar parts harder left and right, seems to open up the middle alot and make two separate parts stand out a more.
I realize that this is going to cause phase problems, but here's what got me questioning if i should worry about it.
One side of the speakers in my car stereo went kerput recently, and i noticed on some Cd's one of the guitar parts or other aspects of the tune disappeared with the speakers' while other parts of the mixes were still in place. This wasnt true for every cd i played, but most of my favs.
So my question is - is that because these pro Cds were mixed with no concern to phase canceling, and if so what would warrant that decision, pro's & cons, etc.

Phase cancelling that occurs in particular acoustic settings (e.g. various rooms, cars, wherever it's played) will be determined by the speaker placement there, and there's unfortunately little you can do about it. The phase cancellation is between phases of acoustic energy, not the electrical signal.
