Which amp ?????

I am looking to buy an amp, either a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, or a Mesa Boogie of roughly the same size/caliber (I know that they are totally different amps but I haven't decided on which one yet). I plan to use it a majority of time without the GNX3 pedal as I have powered monitors that I run the pedal through now (at home).

Does anyone have any comments or experience about using either amp with a GNX3 pedal. I obviously want as little colouration of sound when using the pedal. I assume that I would be using the pedal through the amps effects loop.

Thanks in advance,
Dman

  • dman, there was another picker on the on old GNX2 sound community, \"desertbluesman\", who used a HRD, he really liked it.

And another guitarist I've played with used the Deville, with 2- 12 inch speakers at 65 watts, I think. Very nice amp!

Desertbluesman always said if he was going to plug his GNX-2 into the regular input he would max mids and turn back the bass and treble. He said that was \"neutral\" for the HRD.

You might go to the GNX-2 forum and see if he is still around, he was always willing to share his knowledge.

    HTH some.
  • I say \"+1\" to Mike B's response. I still chat with Ole Harv on another forum and he still raves about the HRD! I have a Traynor YCV40WR - another option to consider. The best combination I had using my GNX2 (before I sold it) was through the FX Loop - but I like the amp by itself a lot better.

... although Harv (as did I) picked up an Epiphone Valve Junior Head for $100 and both of us marvel at the stellar tone that little guy produces!!!
