  • First off, a couple of things to a few of the posters here..

Let's not ruffle feathers on our comments. You can simply read or post. How important the discussion is is only relevant to the participants.

We don't have a meet and greet or similar, so most of the time the General Discussion posts are just that... gen discussion. please be mindful and respectful in that regard. It'll go farther !

:D THANK YOU....guitar3456. Nicely done, and greatly appreiciated.
I'm also releived to know what strings I wanna wear is relevant. I was being genuine, and not trying to string anyone along.
All work and no play? Where's the inspiration?

I do risk coming off as stupid...but I have been completely away from things for almost 30 years...and  the equipment these days........well....let me say...we didn't have computers...floating bridges, so many choices of gear and this GNX4.

I got this (my first computer) 3 years ago. But whats worse....I just learned of Satriani, only about a year ago.
  • Okay, my turn...

Started playing at age 13. That led to HS bands, College bands. I've done the pro circuit (Paradoxx in the 80's), opening for major acts like Rory Gallagher, Gary Moore, Ros Collins band, Lita Ford, Whitesnake ( last min cancel we filled..woohooo) and... lastly in 99' with a band Black Onyx..we opened for Silverchair. I also did sessions for commercial ads and stuff for Robinson Jewelers, local suppliers and retailers.

Got out of it for a while and launched Mtprosound. I still play regularly. Local shows most of the time, but I fill in for a lot of bands in other shows..run sound.. things like that.

fav guitars and amps... I like them all for what they do better than the other.

Motto: If you are serious, you can go as far as you want. A challenge is only an obstacle if you lack motivation.

My recommendations... don't ever get hung up one style, or sound. be open minded to expand your individual creativity. Hendrix did, EVH did, SRV, Satch.. the list is long. They are all on that list because they followed what inspired them.

    iliace,

I can't help but envy your devotion and skills as an artiste.
I started young, but lacked discipline, and failed to understand my heart. I walked away from music, which I profoundly regret, as it should have been a foundation block in my life as it was meant to be.

I feel so good that I have found myself back involved with music. You know ....it's strange....but when I gave up guitar...I also stopped listening to music, be it on the radio...or, and even quit buying my personal favorites. I would drive a car clear accross the USA and not listen to a minute of music. I can't explain that.

I know I will live each day from here on with music, and it feels so good.

You meantioned you came to the states. Is your screen name a reflection of your heritage?

    Manitou,

Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. I will be sure to share music with others as long as I am able.

I've had times when I would not listen to music, and it was during those times that I've found myself most restless. Music is a great release for creative energy.

The screen name is in part a reflection of my heritage - it's a tag I took on a long time ago and has stuck with me to this day. It's actually, what I call a longer version of my name - pronounced Italian-like, EE-lee-ah-chee. :) The real name is Ilia (Russian).
