Beware X-Fi with dual core processors
I bought an X-Fi and completely loved it.......up until I upgraded from an AMD Athlon to an AMD dual core chip.
It seems that there is a problem with the drivers with dual core chips. This is well documented with people having crackling with this combination. Even the latest beta drivers do not fix this issue. It is not an issue with single core chips.
There are many PO'd people that are experiencing problems with different combinations of X-Fi and dual core chips.
It seems I'll be going back to my Audigy2 Platinum until they fix the drivers.
Sometimes you wonder if it's worth getting cutting edge hardware. It seems like the drivers are always behind the hardware.
