Hey I asked this same question! I have gotten an approximation to that sound which I've been told by some people does sound pretty close to the Dire Straits sound on $ 4 0.

Has anyone posted a GNX4 patch to simulate the sound of Mark Knopfler's guitar in Money For Nothing? I get a reasonably close version of it using a patch that has Fender Twin Amp simulator, rat fuzz and wah-wah on but with the heel down, toe up.
I'm hoping others may have done a better job getting this sound right than I have been able to do. If anyone has or knows of a good patch for this sound, please let me know.
Also have you looked at the guitar tabs on the web for the main guitar riff? There are about 20 different ones, and none of them seem too accurate, although some get close. I think I\"ve gotten reasonably close in playing it the way Mark K. does, but if you know a really accurate tab for the guitar riff, please enlighten me.
