recording drums on gnx3

hi
my friend has a roland v drum kit.On the side of the control box is a midi in and midi out connection.If he plugs his drums into the midi connection on my gnx3 will he be able to record?

I have the same roland kit, td3kv, and i just run a pair of leads from the line out on the sound module to the lines in on my gnx4. Works nicely.

Hi,

I use a straight forward guitar lead with a 1/4\" jack. The roland td3kv sound module has to line out sockets, 1 x left and 1 x right, and also a headphone socket. You can run an instrument cable such as a standard guitar lead from any of these into the line in 1/4\" socket on the gnx. If you only want to use one cable you can run it from the either the \"L\" line out on the TD3 or the headphone socket. The line out sockets are at the back of the sound module next to the volume knob whilst the headphone socket is on the side next to the midi in out sockets. Hope this helps.

You can use it in G>1 M>2 mode and record the drums in stereo - just need a DI box to plug the right analog output of the drum machine into the XLR input. Stereo drums lose a lot from being mixed to mono.
