another noobie..and guess wot?..another SATCH fan, go figure
I'm just now trying to figure this GNX4 out.
I've been gathering up presets, and trying out the sounds. I really like that \"Always Me, Always You\" that Dr. Mike has posted. One of the few handful of Satch songs I've been hacking...thanks to Danny Gill.
Here's my hangup... I'm getting EndElement ..is an invalid node type.
What nodes....man. :P
Can anyone help me ??

I have the xedit version 1.3. My GNX4 is new as is all my software versions. Maybe this is a firmware problem. I talked with a tech over at Digitech, but the site just happened to crash while we were trying to figure this out. So far I have tried everything, and no luck yet.

The problem it seems lies on the Docs machine. If you open a standard g4p patch in word as an xml document all of the patch settings are visible ie, amount of gain, bass etc aswel as the naming for each set.
Mike's do not have this for some reason. Since some people have managed to get them to work I can't imagine what the ** is wrong.
I have downloaded them on numerous ocassions all with the same result.
For the record I do not have a GNX4 but am using the Genetx preset converter. Although with the docs patches having data missing this should not be an issue.
Gary.
I really wish that this could be figured out...
Again, I and some others appear to be able to load my patches but there does appear to be something different about them.
I'm using Xedit 1.3 on OSX 1.3. Until recently, the Xedit version for OSX was not able to export or import patches. I wonder if DigiTech messed up the XML exporter in the OSX version of Xedit.
I am running Win XP and have all updates for OS and xedit etc. Thanks for taking the time to look into this and lets hope digitech can sort the problem of cross platform compatability with the next release.
Gary
I was working on this with tech Shane...over at DigiTech support, but at the time the site crashed, so we'll try again maybe today...if he's working a Saturday...otherwise I'll resume this on Monday.
I'm sure this will be resolved, and it will be interesting to understand this more. I am grateful to be learning this along with you veteran's...especially when I just finally figured out where the on/off switch was a week ago.
This patch \"Always with Me, Always with You\" Dr Mike created is very good, and I can't wait to use it. I'm tweeking an \"Ice 9\" patch which is okay, but lacks that Nashville-tuned quality.
P.S. I did try the uninstall/reinstall twice. Desperate times call for desperate measures. :P
Did you not read what had just been written..
It seems more likely that the original patches are produced by an PC running the OSX operating system and that version of xedit does not produce compatible patches for the windows based xedit.
The problem you have is not likely to be firmware nor xp software based.
Gary
I'm also Gary.
I'll test these...
Thanks for the PM unforgiven, you are a class act.
I am grateful people like yourselves are so capable and willing to offer help, and to take the time and interest to help a noobie get his feet under him. I'm relieved to know, as in this case, when I encounter a problem, I can't seem to figure out for myself, I can come to the Forum and gather consel and support.
I certainly do appreciate musicians extending themselves to share their work, and take the time to see others benefit. You guys are an example to follow.
Thanks.....regards...Gary
Albert and Doc M: I think it is possible to get these patches to work but it would take ages. I made a start and frankly got dis-hearted and stopped. All I did was open (in word) 1 of Doc's patches and 1 that works on my pc and started to copy and paste all the relevant info from the good one to the other. If any one fancies trying it I would suggest having a gnx4 manual handy so you can correctly work out which number = which delay etc.
Gary.
Hopefully DigiTech will also respond.

I had read about Cobaltblooz, before I started this thread...I saw he was able to fix the problem...but I couldn't find my way through it. I had zip file errors, and the v.1.3 claiming to be a v.1.21 etc. it was a head scratcher for sure...but Shane over at Digitech helped me through this. I finally got the v.1.3 working.
Thank you everyone, and especially Shane at Digitech...and Dr. Mike for the BEST patch on my workstation !!!
Could you describe what you did to get it working so others could as well?
Also, I'm curious, is there a problem with my patch? Did you have to do something weird or \"work around\" or is it just a matter of having the right version of Xedit ??
Thanks ahead of time and I'm really glad you like the patch... I have others but am waiting till this is resolved.
I can describe what I did...but as I went back through the process, to trace my steps, I've found Digitech has already changed the site around from how it was. We all were getting error messages, and some other goofy stuff. It took some emails and several phone calls back and forth, to finally resolve this issue on my system.
Long story short...I think they will polish this up, and present the issue resolved to you...meanwhile...it's better I refer you to them.
Shane's number is 801-568-7593.
Regards Gary
But it sounds like at least you got the patch to work. Let me know how it works out. Play with the pedal in \"Stompbox\" Mode. There's some pretty neat stuff there.
Most of this stuff was a foreign language to me, and I'm really not qualified to present any final analysis, or map any successful routes to follow.
The bottom line, without hiding the gold with too much mud...is you need X-edit v. 1.3. guitar3456, AlbertA, and Cobaltblooz all were indicating this, and maybe it is all that simple. So, if you don't want to read any further...there's the deal.
For me.......
The problem was getting the v.1.3 was not as simple as maybe it was for them. I just got my system new 2 weeks ago, and downloaded what was supposed to be the newest version, off the Xedit install disc. Digitech was telling me also...no...you HAVE the latest version. There was confusion over the software/firmware versions as people were trying to indicate. On my GNX4 it would show...version 1.3......and I'm assuming that is the firmware? On my computer programs I am showing Xedit v. 1.2...and I'm assuming that is the software? Digitech themselves keep saying I should be good, but I pushed the issue, and dug deeper. I ended up finding the elusive version 1.3 (so ...ahhHA it does exist) but encountered problems downloading it. This is when Shane rolled up his sleeves and then Digitech started a pow wow to sort this out better. Dr. Mike was the topic of geek speek at all the Digitech water coolers. I don't know if the site crashing that day had anything to do with anything, but sure felt good knowing that maybe things were shaking up over there.
When I'd tried to download v.1.3 it would change to v. 1.21, and I encountered some error problems. Things got goofy, and every way I tried ended up at the same place. Digitech sent me 1.3 in a zip file to my email. I had problems installing that...but I think that was due more to my failure of understanding how to go about opening the zip file correctly. Thing is...I wasn't the only one, so what ever confidence I lost was cured with my misery enjoying some company. Shane figured it out, called me up and walked me through the zip file thing. Whatta ya know...finally.
Now how they are changing the site to make the version 1.3 more accessable or easier to download...I don't know. I'm sure they will polish this up and make a few changes. Obviously needed to be confronted. Someone on this thread also mentioned they maybe made a mistake by labeling the firmware/software versions in a confusing manner...and they might need to fix that too. Sure was confusing...and even the downloading process was goofy (that's my technical term for it.) I don't have a clear map for someone to follow, and certain you shouldn't need to enter the maze I got caught up in. I hope Digitech makes the version easy to aquire for others to install.
Meanwhile...I've had enough humble pie, and I want to simply enjoy this success for as long as I can before any lights start blinking, or smoke starts coming out of the back of my GNX4. I need to put a photo of Frank Zappa above my amp...so I'll be reminded to just \"shut up and play your guitar.\"
P.S. thanks again for that \"Always with me, Always with you\" patch. I've been dedicated to that song now for 2 days, and it never sounded so good!! I can leave Joe's photo looking at me while I play it now. When I'm destroying his music...I can't stand to have him watching. I never worry about Jimi Hendrix...I trust he would be too stoned to give a sheit anyway.

Well, it looks like you got it figured out.
But just in case there's still any confusion about the which version is which... The \"1.3\" on the GNX unit is the firmware version. The \"1.2\" on your computer is the Xedit version.
And BTW, I still haven't received a response to my email...
