I picked up the EX2200 and the MXL990. Go figure, though, just hours after I ordered it, I found the MXL909 for the same price on their site.
Any suggestions? I can probably still change my order. The 990 is a good all around mic, but the 909 is especially good at vocals.
Are they both good all around mics and the 909 is just above average at vocals?
909: 990:
Also, I'd still be interested in hearing those samples from the EX2200. The post / parcel offices are closed tomorrow, so that's one extra day I have to wait.
Guitar -> GNX4 -> line-out -> Behringer -> GNX4 line-in
Set your output to SPLIT1. Recorder input to Line-Dry. Monitor from the XLR-outs.
Thanks, ne1roc. Found I had to set output to STEREOALL, but that worked great. I can now record individual enhanced tracks (e.g, drums) or the whole mix. I'm finding the EX2200 doesn't do much for phones, but through the monitors... wow!

You greedy guys that just have to purchase two units. I hate it when peeps have to have just two. Real obsessive compulsive guys always have to have a few more than that. Are you still a real man if you own less than 4 guitars? I really wonder. Like I told my wife when I came home with the fifth motorcycle ... \"Warrior need many chariots\" .She's gone now. I can get as many toys as I want.
I got one and they shipped it so fast I couldn't believe it. Tried it out for a while. Then I ordered another one. Now I wonder if I should get three... just in case my backup dies? That's how it starts, ya know......
I have not used this on my mixes yet (finished MP3's), but I am using it on playback and it rocks. I can't even stand to listen to my tracks without it. This gadget is a spoiler!! Now I have to loop all my tracks through it.
One note of caution. Mix through it, because it changes and livens stuff up so much that you can over do the bass and reverb pretty easily.
Great!!! I finally found an EX2200 for the right price. The problem here in the UK is that if you see something online from a store in the US for say $40 the UK price will be £40. SOoooo, after much hunting around I found an EX2200 for £25 ($43.81) which is a damn site better than paying £39.99 ($70.08 ) for one. I should have it by next Wed/Thu because of the Easter hols!!! Can't wait to hear my drums through it.
Thanks for you thoughts on using the unit for mixes SlackerG. I was thinking of getting one of these for recording only, but i think you saved me 40 bucks
btw nice tunes on the soundclick link, you sure do make a Tele sing proper.

There's balanced inputs and unbalanced outputs.
Do I have to use this type of cable for the inputs?
Or can I use a straight guitar cable like this:

shando
You can use either. The TRS cable may help with noise issues but if it works with the unbalanced cables, go for it!
