NOISE

Hi dudes, I've recently started getting some unwanted noise when I use the loop function on my GNX4. If I record say, a minutes worth of tune and then loop it, when the recorded part returns to the begining there is an audible crackle/click type noise as the loop commences. It only appears on the first track used to record the initial loop but it is very noticeable and annoying. I know that I can slip edit it out in protracks but this still shouldn't be happening on the GNX. Any ideas as to what may be causing this and any possible remedies will be greatly appreciated.

  • Quantize?

I always got so-so loops off the recorder. It doesn't seem to cut off at \"0\", it just cuts off where you stop the recorder. Which in my case, never seemed quick enough for a nice smooth loop. I ended up editing loops with sonar and storing them back on the card. Honestly, I don't even use the recorder anymore. Too much hassle. Card to pc, pc to card. Looping hassles. I said screw it and record with the pc and sonar. Did I mention the smartmedia on the GNX3? Yeah, that sucks too.

Is anyone effectively using the GNX as a looper? I'd like to know too, for laying down loops on the fly without artifacts.

    Sorry I'm no help.
  • Previously I had no probs at all and can even say that I managed to use the looper somewhat effectively. However, yesterday I noticed that the noise disapears when I'm only looping 2 tracks and the drums. If I add one more track to the loop the noise starts again, regardless of what tracks I am looping. I've tried different ways ie loop tracks 1 & 2 and it's fine, add track 3 and the noise starts again, or loop tracks 3 & 4 and it's fine, add track 1 and the noise starts. I'm thinking maybe it's my amp? I shall have to try it out through my kids amp tonight to see if it's the same.
  • No, I still have pre-roll activated. Should I deactivate pre-roll? I tried it out via my kids amp and it's still the same.
