Guitar3456 - HELP!

Sorry to bother you w/ what I'm sure will be a trivial fix for you.

I just loaded numerous GuitarOne and Guitar World presets to the Presets folder of my GNX4's compact flash card (SanDisk 512mb, Type I). While still connected via USB to my laptop, I can see the presets on the CF card w/ xEdit, as I checked each one for the preset level to make sure it wasn't defaulted to zero. At the same time, I'm able to see the song names show up on the GNX4 window.

Once I unplug from my laptop and select the \"Card\" bank using the data wheel, I can't find any of the new presets. It's like my GNX4 isn't reading my CF card. What I do see is the same 80 presets that are factory loaded in the \"Factory\" and \"User\" banks. I've used this particular card successfully to record song ideas w/ the GNX4's digital 8 tracker, so I believe the card's ok.

What am I doing wrong?????

  • You can just put the G4p files under presets.

You need to open them with X-Edit and SAVE THEM WITH X-EDIT using Device->Store or in the GNX4 by pressing store and selecting your CF card as the location.

It's going to be tedious for sure... but as of this moment it is the only way of doing it.
  • Thanks for the advice!!! Was able to load the presets via xEdit as indicated, but didn't have the option to do so to my compact flash card as the resulting dialog box defaulted to the User bank.

I don't have a problem overriding some of the User presets as they're still currently straight copies of the factory presets, but shouldn't I also have the option of saving them to the compact flash card?
  • Not a problem man.. I'm here to help...

Regarding your question, yeah it should. It the box that you speak of, it should say Card in addition to User.

Make sure you have the CF STORAGE function OFF. Because then you are telling the GNX4 to NOT BE A CF Reader. The GNX4 can only do one of two functions at a time. It can be a CF card reader (CF STORAGE ON) or use the 8-Track recorder/Mp3/Cutom MIDI/Card Area function (CF STORAGE OFF).
  • Alberto - U DA MAN!!!! Makes sense on the CF store function....I'll give it a shot this evening when I get home.
