Fretted / Fretless guitar

Comments

  • WOW!

    That is cool!

I personally can't see a whole lot of use for the guitar since not many guitarist use a frettless instrument, the Bass however is a different story!

I would imagine alot of bass players would love to have that feature in there current instrument. Not sure many would spend 5000 bucks for the option though.

 The guy could probably make a killing if he marketed replacement necks with that function that could easily replace your exsisting neck. Im sure if it was priced accordingly, many bass players would jump at the option.

    IMHO

  • Good idea KT! a replacement neck would be a brillant product...i LOVE the sound of a fretless bass and the option of just flipping a switch on the neck to get that would rock!
  • now if they could only make a scalloped to normal... cool idea though. Thanks. I know a couple of bass guys with Factor bass and other high end guitars that may have an interest.
  • damn i would love a guitar with scallopwed to normal... be pretty complex though
  • Just curious, why would you want scalloped sometimes and not others.
  • My guess would be that during soling have it on so that bending and vibrato comes easy, but during chord strumming have it off so the pitches are more corrected from finger pressures. I am surprised that more necks don't come scalloped from the 12th fret up if that is the case.
  • Instead of flipping the frets over why not have the ability to raise them a little bit. This would give the same effect as a scaloped fingerboard.
  • Grathan - Strings are supposed to rest against the frets. It's not necessary to press so hard that you push them against the fretboard. This usually results in the notes sounding sharper than necesary (especialy when you move to higher fret positions). Having a scalloped neck shouldn't matter as you'd still be pressing only hard enough to let the string stay in contact with the frets and wouln't have the extra added friction from unnecessary contact with fretboard. Most players grip too hard...
