does any1 have a patch and sample for this awesome song miracle man,i can get a similiar(ish) sound by using chorus but it is not as close as i want it to be
Zakk is by far my favorite player out there. Seen him live a few times and WOW! Anyhow I have read a few articles where he was interviewed about his sound and I found a couple of things out. In one interview he said he only uses vintage JCM 800's because the tone was better than the newer ones. Lucky we have an 83' JCM 800 model. Also his cabs are all straights with 200 watt EV's so you will have to find something similar. maybe the Greenback 70 will work for that. On the amp he said his bass is about half way and he likes to have some mid in there to give it more crunch. So scooping is out of the question. He said his highs are about 75%, but his presence is on the low side. I am sure this is to keep the hissyness (yeah I made that word up) down. Then you gotta make sure the amp is pretty dirty on the gain. He uses a Boss OD1 in front of that to boost his distortion, so the Screamer, or the DOD250 may be good for that. I use the Screamer. The tone on the screamer should be about half way and the gain at about 70%. It may take a little bit of tweaking though to get the tone right. Make sure you use some chorus to fatten up the sound, but not too much making it sound too processed. Miracle Man is one of my favorite songs to play and he uses a lot of vibrato on his chords. Getting your vibrato and wah technique down is important too. A few other things to remember. Back then he used Metaltronics amps. They are no longer in buisness, so the tone is going to be different than anything that is in the GNX. And for those of you who are not using a les Paul, the tone on one of those is quite different than what you are able to get unless you have one. My Paul is quite chunky sounding compared to my Ibanez, so that may have something to do with it too. If search for Zakk Wyle amp settings on Google you will find the interview that I read. I can't remember the site though. I myself am trying to make the same tone he has on \"The Blessed Hellride\" CD. I saw BLS live a few months ago and his tone is just SICK! If you really want to get that sound you can always look on EBAY for a Metaltronics head. Sometimes they come up. Just search under Lee Jackson Amplifier. I think there is one on there now. The distortion on those are amazing. They were made by Lee Jackson.
