Velvet Revolver's \"Slither\"
Myself and Ne1roc recorded the guitars on this. Both of us used a gnx4.
His leads and my rhythm were applied over a drum and bass backing track.
Finally ne1roc's singer layed down the vocals. (also thru the gnx4)
Mixed in Sonar 5. Mastered in Audition 2.0
Any and all feedback welcome.
We hope you'll enjoy this one.

Thanks alot Tal.
Nice job guys
Through my studio monitors it sounded like there was almost nothing below about 200hz. I haven't run it through anything with a graph so I am not going swear to that freq.
What mic did you use for the vocals. It sounds like a nice studio setup. What effects did you use there? A comp and a touch of reverb? The singer has a good voice and the recording is very well done.
I hear ya on the drums/bass. I sure wish we’d had a better backing to use…..
For the vocals, I used an Audio Technica 3035 Condensor Mic , thru a Presonus Blue Tube Preamp and Yamaha GC2020 Compressor to the GNX4 with a touch of plate reverb from the GNX4 effects. It was my first attempt at recording vocals and I was quite happy with the results.
Jer's mastering skills really made everything sparkle!
I agree about the backing track lacking some low end. I wonder if adding a real bass to the mix would help out a little?
I would say, adding a real bass wouldn't hurt anything. You could also eq the crap out of the backline. I would suggest bringing all but the featured freqs (cymbals >5k, snare ~2k, kick ~3.15k & <70) down quite a bit, then adding some level to the whole thing. You might be able to use the compressor to help. We have stuck a noise gate on stuff like that before. The gates expose a bit of noise when they open and sometimes that gives the drums and bass a bit of a 'click' so they have some presence in the upper freqs.
Your other option is to grab a midi kit and play a track.
Very nice stuff.
I noticed the rythm guitar drop at 4:01 for a few secs...I don't know the original version of the song, so I don't know if it's intended to be like that.
Anywayz...nice sound...love the BT hehe
care to share what patch you used (or what patch you based the guitars on?)
I guess now you need to post more Jer and NE1Roc!
