online recording studio
Anyone heard (or did) of a project where a couple musicians from different
locations are recording together a song? I mean they record their tracks and
then they share that over the net for the next one who will record his(her)
track... The result is a complete song put together by multiple musicians
that never met in real life.
I am only curious if this concept is known to some of you here...

I did the lead work and ODB did everything else.. 8)
Was a hell of a lot of fun...
ODB's a hell of a musician and an all around good guy to work with.... 8)
Best thing to do is using wav files (they are larger but you don't lose quality due to mp3 conversions and backconversions). You can send up to 1GB files back and forth using www.yousendit.com
If you check out my soundclick page, I have two collab tunes there that I did with a good friend in France while I was in the US. We used FTP servers we had set up to share the files, but yousendit.com works great too. Upload is a little on the slow side, but DL is pretty fast
HTH,
Thomas
Is that your stuff on the hyperlink at the bottom of the page??
Le Tekno??
Awesome tunes.... 8)
Impressive mix, 8)
Very,Very, nice.... 8)
I had a killer dobro player named Davin Kampmann from Holland do a lead ride and some fills for me on one of my SoundClick tunes. I sent David the MP3, and he picked along with the song. {All the way through it so I could pick and choose the parts I wanted to graft into the mix.}
Dave did such a pro job that it sounds like we were in the same room recording at the same time. But then David is a pro quality picker.
Hunt David up at SoundClik, and listed to Alfreds rag... That's one of my favorites that Dave wrote and recorded. He does some stellar Delta Blues style picking. Can't say enough good stuff about the guy. You just have to hear him.
Yes, that's my stuff... Le Tekno
Two of the tunes were collabs with a good friend. We were working sharing files using FTP servers we set up. Bernie does the leads on \"I am Reason\" and 99% of the leads on \"Tamano\" (he uses a V-amp on this one - there is a small section where I did some lead with my GNX2, but that part sounds more like a synth). \"Flying...\" is all a solo project. The two others were first meant as non-guitar tunes, but they sort of eveloved to what they have become after Bernie got involved and sent me some guitar tracks for them. He totally rocks IMO!!! I did the BTs and the mixing and the production in general, but we sent mixes back and forth to agree on final mix that we were both happy with, so it was a 50/50 effort...
Glad to hear you liked the tunes. I know they may not be lot of people's cup of tea, but experimenting with new stuff is just too much fun to let it go
Checked out some of your stuff too. Excellent technique you have there at your fingertips. Wish I had those skills
Cheers,
Thomas
I have had a great time here on this forum colaborating/jammin with other musicians. BJEFF, Killintime, Talrules, Matrix have all been kind enough to
Jam with me. I just post a MP3 and see if anybody likes it. or PM them if I think there style is a match for whatever song I am writing at the time.
Its big fun so hope to hear some stuff from you soon.
We are getting ready to start another jam. We pick a backing track and then break it up for the different players who want to participate. Its fun and easy.
We are finishing up one now, here is the link to what we have so far. Its blues based.

Still waiting on a few players to do their parts.
We also did an original found here:
http://www.jerslair.com/files/music/Lay Your Guns Down.mp3
The original is much more complex. More parts, vocals, etc.
I'll be digging into the web to find some projects to work on. I hope to work with any of the talent in this forum.. You all have it to offer..
If you ever need a wore out old jazzer to help out on guitar work, drop me a private message and give me your thoughts... 8)
And that goes for anybody here on this site as well..
If you're not too pressed for time on a project I'll jam on anything.. 8)
Keep this in mind though..
Don't shoot me I'm only the guitar player..
Aint much of a singer..
But I can play a little guitar..
I'm a jamaholic unless work interrupts me...
See Ya,
Tal
