basic questions

gnx3-- how do i set up a basic fairly clean amp (not a warped whatever) for rhythm stuff with a kick for lead work (louder, some distortion) and the option for delay and a phaser? also, no way to turn off drums with footpedals? thanks.

  • use Xedit and assign whatever clean amp and cab you decide on to the green channel, the distorted one to the red and you can switch between the two. The drums cant be turned off from the foot switches. And you should be able to kick those efx in with their respective foot switch buttons. You are limited to using one of each type at a time, so for example if your gonna use chorus and phase on the same preset you should duplicate your patch, have the two in consecutive order and switch between the two presets.
  • You can actually program your footswitches to do whatever you like. Even program the wah pedal to do things like change amp channel or warp amps, cabs whatever. Next to the middle three footswitches you'll notice it says control a, b, c. Each one of those can be prgrammed to do up to three things at once. Your really not limited. open X-Edit and look at your expression assign page.
  • There is only one control assign (pedal 5) on GNX3. With that control assign you can change any of three GNX selected parameters from the window in Genedit (Xedit is for the GNX4 and 3000) . That one control assign can do this for example:

For one patch or preset; as described above Clean in Green, Dis in Red. Don't forget warp (yellow CH ) in between if selected. IAW..3 ch's possible and you can select, deselect those settings on exp and control assigment part of Genedit.

The Control Assign can do many things.. Each control assign lets you control /enable disable parameters from the GNX3 in ONE push of switch #5 (Stompbox Mode)

Control assign could do this for ex:
    1. Boost gain in CH 2 ( red dist) 1 param change gain, or level
    2. Add chorus wah, delay etc etc (pick one)
    3. Add compression for lead tone

Add to that, expression foot pedal can be assigned as well.

The list to pick from on the last page in Genedit is very diverse and can give you many tones in one push!!! Very usable.

There are videos at the site in my signature made with Xedit in mind but can also be applied to Geneditor as well. See the EXP ASSIGN area and a very detailed vid will apply to your GNX3. Xedit does the same things just looks a bit different.

Users can learn the Editor, it's not that difficult to do so if you simplify things in your mind at first. It's not as complex as many suggest in reviews. It takes a bit of patience, but there is a lot of support for those things. HTH
