Plugins for PC recording VST vs DirectX

I was woundering what is recomended for the final mix. VST or DirectX??

And what brand to use..

    thats all a matter of taste. Youll find good in both and there are no doubt some freebies out there that are better than some you have to pay for. I personally really like the Sonitus plugins that come with sonar. Waves gets tons of attention, and some good freebies that ive tried are Fraisers, blueline, blockfish, and hexaline.
