Genesis 3

Hello y'all, I was just wonderin if anyone knows anything about the discontinued Genesis 3. I just bought my son a GNX 4 and I'm impressed with the sound of the models as compared to my Boss units. It seems that Digitech is still using the same modeling technology in the GNX 3000 that is in the Genesis 3. Is this true? How does it sound compared tohe newer units? I'm a big fan of the Boss's FX and configuration, but I'm just about fed up with the models. Even the GT 8 is weak. IMHO. Wanna stick one in the FX loop of my GT and control it via MIDI. Thanks

Tony :)

  • 3000 and Genesis 3 are miles apart. GNX4 and G3 same thing ( miles apart). The GT-8's are cool and effects are outstanding but COSM models don't make it happen.

3000 replaced the GNX2 ( by feature inclusions ) and has newer Component based modeling. I have not heard of any future plans for a GNX3,GNX4 upgrade of yet. The Genesis you speak of is very similar to what the J Station was. Compact table top unit. Soundwise..the 3000, GNX4 have it all over the Genesis!
  • Genesis 3 is a desktop version of GNX2. GNX3000 is a replacement for the floor version of Genesis 3. But while the functionality is largely unchanged, the underlying technology is very different.
  • Thanks for the replies. Can anyone give me an objective and honest opinion of the Gen3 compared to the GT 3, 5, 6, or 8? I'm not at all interested in the FX section, only the modeler. 10Q
