From one Upgrader to the next...

Well I finally broke down and did it! I bought a GNX4 this weekend!

I have owned a GNX3 for over a year now and I loved it to death! But I saw the things they addressed with the 4 and here I am!

So my question is, How Many users are upgraders like myself? And what do you think of this unit after you have spent some time with it?

  • welcome to GNX4 flavour country! If you are allready into \"Killing Time\" (i \"kill\" me! ha ha) you'll find the mild cool taste of GNX4 country even more addictive.

geeze i haven't smoked for years, where the hell did that come from?

  • Yep GNX3 previous
    user here.
  • Yes I owned a gnx2 and when I finally got the 4 I thought \"Hey there is no difference. By the time my fmx super series came in and I was messin with all the tuterals I was wrong and I knew it. Glad I upgraded.
  • Well, I still have my GNX3 (at this point replete with supermodel patches and amps), and I must say that the superseries work equally well to help out users of older GNX units, not just GNX4. With the exception of the presence control, the sound-shaping capabilities of 4 and its predecessors are comparable.

It's the added/improved workstation features that make the GNX4 standout. Particularly XLR-outs and extensive CF functionality, but also X-Edit and amp/cab files.
  • Thanks for the replys guys!

I think right now the thing I like the best is the Patch Level Knob! It really sucked setting patch levels on the GNX3! You had to play with your amp levels and that really affected the sound of the patch.

Plan to do some more diggin' this week. Just scratching the surface so far.

  • Congratulations on the upgrade, KT! Don't forget to drop by the old GNX3 forum and humor us once in awhile! LOL
    Rock on Brother!
  • i went from an RP50 to a GNX4 !!! how ya like those apples?
  • i went from an RP50 to a GNX4 !!! how ya like those apples?
Congrats bud! So how do you like the jump you made?
  • :D I started with the RP400 model I think. I didnt like it so I got the GNX2. I liked it so much I had to have a GNX3, and since I got the G3456 super models I will probabley hold out for the next series before I make the upgrade plunge Its still sounds good enough for what I do. I do like the GNX4s but I have upgraded my Interface and software this year so the USB upgrade factor I already have. My new Guitar (ovation) sounds better pluged into my PA Direct than through the GNX3. I guess thats due to the onboard preamp. I started picking up Radio signals when I plugged it into my GNX3.( I sware straight out of spinal Tap)  Anyways I love new musical toys and cant wait for the next GNX series to drool over. :P Congrats on thepurchases.

as I always say NEW STUFF REWLZ :!:
  • I've got you all beat......I upgraded from an RP1 I had purchased i the early 90's. Somebody said it on the old forum, but the GNX4 is like Playschool for adults...and the Supermodels add to the fun.

  • VHDon,

You do have me beat but not by too much!

  • i know im lovin it ... the RP50 was useful in using just one effect and bypass ... it sucked to change effects on the fly because it had a gap of silence between the switch ... so shitty for live use and that is what i used in my first show .. it wasnt that bad ... so i bought the 4 ... wow i dint know what i was in for im still* learning shit about it everyday afetr owning it for over a year ... this machine is AMAZING ... i doubt theres anything that they couldve done better with it
