Petition for an X-edit upgrade

Come on everyone with a GNX4 (and anyone who can sympathise with us), lets start a petition about this dam X-edit upgrade we are looking for.

it is very dissapointing to see people utilising software files from GNX3000 and overwriting their current files, this is a known and proven bug yet nothing from them.

Moderators, surely you have some interaction with Digitech, and if so can you please ask them when they intend on releasing an upgrade for X-edit,

come on everyone, lets finally get an answer

  • Believe it or not, we don't. We are also users. There's a couple of poeple that have received version 1.3 if you e-mail DigiTech.
  • I knew I shoulda left my disclaimer \"NOT A DIGITECH EMPLOYEE\" in my sig. :)

Regardless, I'm pretty sure my GNX3000 came with Xedit v1.3x (for some reason I'm thinking 1.31, but I could be mistaken). I'll double check when I get home, and if no one from DigiTech minds, I'll see about zipping it up and putting it up for download (if it's a small enough archive anyways).

Hang tight Zak. Might have a workable solution for ya. I've read about GNX4 users having success with the version that was sent out with the 3k. Might be worth a shot?

But what exactly do you mean by

    ???
  • Yeh, saw your sticky after I posted that. :)

Guess I won't need to zip/upload it anywhere now. /grin
  • I guess what what I was talking about with the statement
\"utilising software files from GNX3000 and overwriting their current files, this is a known and proven bug \" was that surely this isnt the best way to do this, there must be subtle difference in the software and if there isnt than why dont they just release it for everyone.

I am stunned to find out they dont keep the mods in the know,

I do appreciate the link to the software but I am cautious as to wether I should install, becaue any bugs you have from then on they will say it is my own fault.
This unit cost around $1800 Au when it came out which is around $1000AD and to be honest the support has been bad, and it isnt a case of not loving my GNX4 (even more with the ultimate series and that new Jimmy Page patch rocks) I just want a few bugs fixed and they just dont respond, is it possible you can get them to authorise the GNX3k version of software to use.
I am also willing to pay, give us some of the features we have asked for and sell the upgrade,

    any help appreciated
    Zak
  • The most annoying bug (the expression pedal corrupt message stuff) is gone as far as I can tell from 1.3.

Also you can drag and drop a patch from explorer into the X-Edit window and it'll open. You can't double-click a patch an open it if X-Edit is already running, but I don't consider that a bug but I would like for them to consider it as a feature request.

The only other bug I get regularly is when initially opening X-Edit and selecting \"Open current preset\" sometimes it errors out, but you just have to do it again.

Other than that, I haven't notice any other bugs, that would greatly impede me from using X-Edit regularly.

Any other users of 1.3 care to comment?

So far I have yet to encounter any of the problems most people have experienced using Xedit. The only minor issue I had was because I didn't RTFM and forgot I didn't have the .NET framework installed on my DAW. Once I installed that, it's been working great ever since.

As far as not opening a patch file if Xedit is already running, you could probably fix that by adding a new MIME type and using OLE to open the file. Configure it to point to the Xedit excecutable in the path setting and place a \"%1\" after it. I haven't done that myself, but that's how I use to manually add that type of functionality for certain file types in the past.
