GNX4 Output issues

Hey guys, I have had my GNX4 now since Feb 2005. I have explored, poked and prodded every aspect of this rig. Love it til death do us part...unless my budget allows an upgrade.

The issue I have moved setting from here to there, adjusted amp, effects settings and really sent the memory into disarray. Recently the output (not through headphones) has been garbled, sometimes low snapping at any time to high output. The acoustic effect (especially) accentuates the issue. I brought it to a technician and discovered it could not be anything mechanical since the guts of this is all computer boards. Funny though the issue really acted up when I fiddled with the wah/volume pedal. There is nothing to go wrong with this. I lubed all connections with connection fluid (not sure what this is but the tech says its $10 an oz.)
He suggested a FACTORY RESET.

After exhausting every avenue (Cable replacement, Amp switching, Guitar switching etc.) I had to, with reluctance, FACTORY RESET.

Well it worked! Pure sound! no static no garbled sound. Its been a week now and all is good.

However, Why did I have to do this?

Is the memory within the GNX4 limited to X changes. How does this work?

I have saved all the settings on the flash card but if I am now reluctant to move the settings back to where they were.

Is there gliche in the programming?

Darby
