Floyd Rose Discovery

Has anybody ever tried one of these? I'm very interested, (except for the finishes), but haven't found one in stock anywhere to try.

I wonder how the hollowed out headstock affects the mechanics of sustain on the guiatr.

It's bad enough tuning/restringing a floyd rose on a normal guitar... now they make a whole FL guitar!

Really? I've always been a Kahler man myself, but I guess I wrongfully assumed that the Rose system was more stable. The speed loader system is interesting and it promises good intonation, but I'm having doubts now. For the price of a Discovery, though, I might buy just to try.

The Floyd setup is overexaggerated. Once set, I haven't had to noodle whatsoever. I had two guitars with the Kahler trem. Kahler seems to have an edge over the Floyd in the quality dept, but I greatly prefer the feel of the Floyd over the Kahler.

Anyone ever use a Gary Levinson guitar with a Falcon system? I know they are the only ones that have them, but I've never actually come across one to try. Not too popular in the States I guess...

I have an original Floyd Rose on a Kramer Pacer. Once properly set up, they are not a problem at all. As long as you change one string and replace it with a new at the same time mine goes right into tune and stays there. No fooling with claw or anything. Other than cutting the ball off the string, nothing to it. I had a Kahler many years ago. It was the one with the rollers. I prefer the Floyd hands down for feel and sustain.

I have a Floyd on my Charvel Model 4, and it does not need any adjustments unless you change string guages.

I've heard good and bad. Some intonation problems as well. Most just complain about the headstock design. Others say the hollowed headstock reduces sustain, plus the neck is less than desirable to most. I've played one, beat on it, and it held up fine..I haven't bought one though.
