Except for the Controller footswitches!!! WHY!??

But great job Mike, very helpful. You ought to get more in-depth on the cabinet modeling stuff (maybe even frequency response plots, etc) for your member section.

  • I agree, great job Mike. I too would be interested in more info on creating the transparent custom cabinet models for Live performance. I can't wait for the Super Series to debut for the GNX3K. Thanks again for all of your hard work.

  • I am getting a gnx3k friday and watched all the videos..WOW..you are so detailed i am in awe...i just hope i made the correct choice with the gnx3k vs the gnx4
  • Unless you really like the on-the-spot recording capabilities, if you've never had a GNX4 you won't regret getting a GNX3k :D

  • Biggest thing that makes GNX4 a standout for live..

CF card storage..additional 80 presets and backup file storage for instant recall. Cf card also stores MP3's so if you have a set break, you can play your mp3's live while you are gabbing to patrons. Or you can always have an outboard CD player on the input side and feed XLR's to the pa console.
3 types of control footswitch assigns 3 parameters in each..some may say overkill but a lot of us use it, especially with momentary toggle.
  • heheheh...i have the gnx3k coming friday but now i am wondering....hmmmmmmmmm
  • Whats with the Super Series for the GNX3K? What is that all about anyhow?

I'm currently trying to juggle getting a PODLIVE XT or a GNK3K. I really can't seemt o make up my mind. I here so many good things about each, its hard to decide

read all about it. very cool.
  • heya kewlpack, its reags from the bossgtcentral =D

ahaha so you're a full time convert now!

just wondering, with the GNX3K, since it doesnt support the 4CM, how would you hook it up to say....a setup like my Mesa Dual Rec. + 4x12 cab without some fx sounding real bad?

Ooo man... Um - if you use the preamps on the GNX3K, you should go into the Dual Rect's FX Loop return and bypass the Rect's preamp altogether...

Otherwise - it really depends on if you just want effects that go pre-preamp or post-preamp. In most situations I can think of - the above scenario would work best because you won't have the Rect's preamp coloring your tone or effects.

    heya mate,

sounds good - though what happens if i want to use my amp's preamps & just the GNX3K's FX as an addition to my mesa tones?

    cheers!
  • Right - if all you want are the FX after your real preamp, just stick the GNX3K in the FX Loop of the amp - like you would any other traditional effects device.

Guitar > amp > amp fx send > gnx3k input > left output > amp fx return.

    heya KP,

sounds easy enough - I tried that with the GT8 & had quite a few issues with some wahs & distortions sounding REAL nasty, hence I shifted over to the 4CM. Will the GNX3K face similar issues with using the LOOP? That's probably the main deciding factor for me jumping onboard digitech :)

    thanks again

You're gonna have the same problems as with the GT8. Wah, Distortion, Overdrives, and Compressors all tradtionally go IN FRONT of the preamp. The reason you had trouble is because you had them AFTER the preamp - which usually doesn't work.

That's why the GT8 is the defacto best-in-class effects device with a regular amp (with an FX Loop in it)... because you can change the GT8 FX Chain order and Loop in any way you need to.

The GNX3K is gonna be best going into an FRFR rig, or into a tube poweramp/cabinet rig. You will have decent results going straight into a preamp IF you can find the best cabinet tuning (and use that cabinet for all of your patches) - see Guitar3456's posts about cabinet tuning elsewhere on the forums.
  • Hey just wanted to say thanks man. Your video on Warping got me past a huge wall I had hit in trying to get a good Live tone. Your advice on Warping two identical Amp and Cab mods was just the breakthrough I needed. I now have a whole bank of live patches that all work great at high volume. I was originally trying to warp two entirely different Preamps with completly different EQ settings in an attempt to really only slightly alter a tone I had already set up for recording. One was a custom Cab/Amp I made to work with my Marshall MG250DFX and the other was my recording tone. This was not working for me. Your vid showed me how to be more gentle with the warp feature and has opened the door to so many possibilities.

Also, I can't wait to get my hands on your Supermodel series for the GNX3k! Some of the tones you demonstrated in your video were totally drool-worthy! I don't know if the same is possible on the GNX3k, but if it is I think this device is going to be the best $800AU I have ever spent ;)

Again, thanks heaps Kewlpack ~ your posts have proven very insightful :)
  • Hey Mike,
Is there a preferred order for viewing the tutorials? Not obvious from the web page layout.
    Thanks! - g
  • No Order...I'll have more soon to add to those. Most likely after Holidays.
  • There's a certain benefit from watching them from simpler to more complicated, but that all depends on your starting point. If you already know how to save and load amps/cabs in X-Edit, you can go straight to the warping video. He does reiterate the important points, so most likely you can watch them in whatever order makes sense to you.
