Intellegent Pitch Shifting...

Could some please please please post a few audio samples (10-20s is all that is required) of different IPS settings you may have (distortion ones). I am interested to hear how realistic this sound. Im kinda hoping it really does sound like 2 guitars being played at once as oppsed to some \"china\" sounding crazy effect. Cheers in advance to whoever can help me out \\m/ much appreciated \\m/

  • I used the IPS with a 3rd up setting for my solo in How Many Times.
  • I have played with the IPS and these are my observations.

Great feature if you use it in 5ths, 4th's, and Ocataves. Also great if you are going to play a tune using one scale, so that you can use the scale select.

It you are going to play a tune that changes keys, I just stick to the Octave feature.

The Octave feature is a nice effect, but it is an \"Effect\". You're not going to sound like Wes Montgomery or George Benson's Ocatve playing using it, but is a nice effect.

For reference on staight Octave style playing check out Wes Montgomery playing \"Four on Six\", or George Benson playing \"On Broadway\".

    Unbelievable playing.

    Hope this helps,
    Tal
  • I have some problems with the IPS myself. I was trying to use it for the song \"the trooper\" by maiden. but I cannot get the harmony to sound right. Now, the song is in Emin. so do I set the the ips to play a 3rd up in the key of E min. Or do I set it to play in the key of G maj. either way I cannot get it to sound correct.

3rd Up, Minor, E... thats how i set it and it works well.
  • Reading your question: Emin and Gmaj will yield identical results. As a matter of fact, any relative mode will. It would have been sufficient to include a chromatic major and harmonic minor. If I were DT, I'd add melodic minor and a few pentatonic/hexatonic patterns.

Emin, 6th down. Depending which part you are playing though. Learn dave murrays part - then do 6th down.
