 crackling haha must be my cheap speakers. Are you using the infamous Behringer Truths? It was only done with a RP200A too, none of this fancy GNX stuff.

And ironically, its the song that made my interest in Metallica drop extremely.
Now I'm not going to go into the whole \"Load\", \"Re-Load\" thing where all old school Metallica fans start bitching because the band took a different direction.
I had just bought \"Cunning Stunts\" on DVD. I was working at my old home theater sales job. I had hid in the biggest theater room in the store and popped it in. I skipped \"So What\" just in case any customers came in. Next up was \"Creeping Death\". This is one of the most destructive songs in metal in my opinion. And I was about to hear it at a unrecommended volume level where your hearing is concerned. I started the track and was blown away at the power the band had. Sure I'd seen them play this before live but it had been a while.
Where it all \"jumped the shark\" for me was Jame's singing. In my humble opinion Creeping Death needs to be sung a certain way. The way its been sung up until I heard this DVD. He ruined it. I understood the new stuff. I kind of liked most of it. Not as much as the prior 6 albums but it was still Metallica goodness.
To hear James's \"new voice\" destroying powerful tracks like Creeping Death and others, made me realize that they would never sound the same again. Maybe he did it because his voice wouldnt hold out forever singing the old way. Maybe they wanted to change the bands sound vocally. I dont know. But I miss the old Hetfield on the mic.
Just think of the old way the following lurics were growled out.
\"Blood will follow blood, dying time is here..... DAMAGE INCORPORATED!\"
Now think of the new Hetfield. About 1/2 an octave higher, and throwing \"Baby!\" on the end of that line.
Again, JMHO.
Cheers.
To Metallica in all its forms.
HUZZAH!
James is a pud.
Haha. Joking of course.
I hear ya. And I understand what he needed to do. We were just pointing out that it DID change their sound. And it did take some of the \"umph\" out of those classic heavy songs.
I like Testament. But they have a number of songs that I couldnt even tell you the names of. So much of their stuff has no character.
Whats your favorite Tetament album aRcTurUs?
\" Master Of Puppets\" I have a soft spot for that song. Another choice would be \"Trapped under Ice\" .
As far as Testament goes I think think Alex Skolnick Rocks ! His solos were so good.... Just listen to \"Electric Crown\" or \"Return to Serenity\" Just awesome guitar work.

I saw his solo band \"Exhibit A\" once a long time ago. They were good. Now I hear he's into jazz. I'd like to hear that.
I have seen him twice with Testament. Both times on the Souls of Black tour. And then once with Exhibit A and once with Savatage.
Great musician. He studied under Satriani for a while.
That would be Practice What You Preach, the PERFECT album. Though lately ive been getting into my death metal a bit more so from The Gathering has been on my playlist for a while now.
Man you are very lucky to have seen them then \\m/ that would be a life experience man.
I got all of the Alex Skolnick Trio albums though they are pretty ghey, just jazzy covers of metal songs haha. Though good to listen to if your doing some study or stuff like that. BUu give me thrash Skolnick any day his solos totally blow anyone away.
I saw Testament play at the Metal Gods 2003 show in Chicago. Eric Petersons guitar rig kept failing. They actually had to stop playing and find a new amp head to use. CHuck Billy used the time to smoke a joint on stage that someone threw him from the balcony.
It was hilarious.
Whats your favorite Skolnick solo?
Hail Alex Skolnick as my fav guitarist and hail Testament as my fav band \\m/
