Bridging 2 CE 2000s for tops ???

I would have gone through the wizard, but I was at work and saw a chance to buy another CE 2000. Can I bridge the amps for the highs with the DRPA or do I need the 260 to bridge amps for tops??

  • Neither will accept a \"bridged\" amp for anything but subs. That doesn't matter though because you are going to do a manual gain structure and system balancing anyway. So buy away.

  • I didn't think I could do that so I may buy the XTI 4000 the CE is just not enough power Thanks for the quick reply.
  • I think you may have misunderstood. You can bridge any (bridgable) amp for your highs. You just can't \"tell\" the wizard that it is bridged. It is no different than selecting \"custom\" for your amp.

  • Yes I did misunderstand , thanks for the clarification. So I can do it..., the DRPA just won't know. I am a little hesitant to buy a used amp(crown has a good rep but I have read about some problems) on Clist so I may still pick up the XTI 4000 from NSL as gadget suggested on an earlier post. thanks again
  • The crossover doesn't know or care if an amp is bridged..As DRA said the gain structure will take care of that any way..

I think the majority of the problems with the CE series amps was with the grounding on the power section traced to a star washer that works loose or corrodes. I think they covered that problem @ the PSW and I believe it was the CE4000 that was the culprit... but don't bank on it...

  • I read there that it was a nut on the 2000 that would come loose and well, metal conducts, so..... They said the 4000 did not have the problem.
