DR-260 Cooling?
Hi,
I Just upgraded from the DRPA to the DR-260 and was wondering if any considerations should be taken as to cooling/venting of the unit.
My unit is placed in a rack, between two other processors (rack is stuffed and no extra space to leave above the 260) and the convection openings on the top cover of the unit are practicaly covered.
I See nothing regarding this issue in the manual. Is this a point for concern or am i just paranoid :?:
Thank You

The 260 has a fan... but it has been determined that even it is unnecessary... the unit maintains its cool very well.. All racks should have a vent of some sort... some degree a=of heat inside is ok, but, If your outside and its 100 degrees and its 30-40 degrees hotter in the rack... that is not good.

Thanks for your reply. Older/previous models did have a fan, the new (mine...) dosen't.
It is a indeed a cool piece of instrument but it does not run cool at all. My Rack is 12U, packed with goodies and also the consol's PSU at the bottom, and In fact The 260 is the hotest of them all.
The rack is not deep, the back is open, and I am not talking mid-summer day.
It just seems strange that a processor unit that generates so much heat is \"alowed\" to be sandwiched between other units that block the vertical air flow and cooling.
I'll take my IR thermometer next time and get some numbers.
