Moderator Duties
If you're able to read this, then you've been enabled as a moderator on the user group. The major reason for making most employees a moderator is so that you can watch out for topics which might not be fit for public view. Most spam is has been blocked since we added the password to registrations, but it still happens.
The rule: NEVER DELETE A POSTING. If something is objectionable, I need to see it so that I know which user(s) to delete.
If you feel that a topic should not be visible to the general public, use the MOVE function to move it into this forum. Do not use the Leave shadow topic feature.
If you feel that a message is objectionable, but the topic is legit, follow these steps:
1) Use the MOVE feature to move it to this forum WITHOUT the shadow topic feature
2) Use the MOVE feature to move it back to the original forum WITH the shadow topic feature
3) Delete the message(s) that are objectionable from the original forum.
This only takes a minute to do, and it leaves me with a copy of the objectionalble message(s) in this forum so I can follow up on them.
