Crackling and Popping Sounds on Home Audio with Precis 8x8

I have a client who is reporting that every time he turns on his family room audio zone he gets a lot of crackling and popping through the speakers. My guess is the AutoPatch has a bad set of channels. Any one else have a suggested diagnosis and fix?

Dave, if it's happening in only one room and it's on a multiroom system, just swap outputs on the PRECIS with another room. If the problem moves to the new room, it's at or before the precis.
If only one channel has the problem and the Precis is the culprit and it's out of warranty, you may have an empty channel you can use and abandon the troubled one. Although often such trouble can spread, just as often it doesn't, so you can live a natural life with an unused bad channel. -
John's advice is sound, but my experience in such things that it's usually the amp, not the switcher that is the source of the noise. So if switching outputs doesn't make the problem move, look into that amp.
