PT30 Camera Remote Head in RS232 Mode

Does anyone know how to operate the PT-30 in RS232 mode? I can't quite figure out the command set from the manual. I've put the head in RS232 mode, but no luck.

Also, does anyone know if the newer PTE-300's have an RS232 mode?

    Do you have the RS232 port on the master properly wired to the Axlink connector on the PT30 as indicated in the documentation?

    I've never tried to control a PT by RS232 rather than by Axlink, so I'm not sure whatyour problem could be. I'm quite sure, though, that if you connect to the DB9 on the PT30 you won't have joy.

    ADD:

    As a rule, I try not to answer a question by asking, "why do you want to do this." But in this case, I'm curious. Why do you want to control the PT30 via RS232 rather than by Axlink? Is there something lacking in Axlink control that you think you will gain by using RS232?
