Use an NI-700 as cardframe slave?

I'm having trouble getting serial cards for an old cardframe. Can I hook up an NI-700 via AXLink and use it as dumb serial ports?

It's either that, or "flip" the system, program the 700, and use the cardframe as the slave.

You can use the card frame as the slave. Set the dip switch on the card server to the first Axlink chanel that you want to start with (x). Remove the Master card.

First card slot will be x:1:0
Second will be (x+1):1:0

and so on.

The 700 can NOT be the slave to another master.
Remove the master card from the frame and use the frame via axlink as the slave.
