Elan V883 Component Video Switcher

Has anybody worked with the Elan V883 8x8 Component video switcher.

I am looking for:

1) Correct serial cable configuration. The book doesn't say anything. I called Elan tech and one guy said it is straight through and the next tech said crossover: 2-3, 3-2, 5-5. Any suggestions?

2) I know that the protocol is very simple, but I am not sure if I am formating it correctly:
SEND_STRING dvElanV883, "'&V883,KEY,034',13"
or
SEND_STRING dvElanV883, '&V883,KEY,034',$0D

Any help will be very appreciated.
