Looking for a DVD-R with Audio Meters

I need to incorporate a DVD-R into a setup where we will be recording events in the room, but we can't monitor the DVD-R as it records. I'd really like to find one with audio meters either on the front of the DVD-R itself or on the display, just so I can watch to make sure the audio is passing to it correctly. Has anyone run into anything that does this?

    We had an instance where 'confirmation of recording' was required (part of a spec) recently.

    We found the Phillips DVDR985 was easy enough for the end user to administer..

    ...was not under AMX control, so did not assess this side of it.
