Module documentation

I just had to look at some module documentation and I was thinking about the file format. Currently module documentation is distributed as a Word document. Sure, you can get OpenOffice for free, I think there is Word document viewer available for free as well, or you can purchase one of the software suites, but they all seem to be a little bloated (except maybe the Word viewer if it exists) for just doing a quick check of documentation. I am thinking that PDF might be a better choice, especially if the document was setup to allow clicking in the index to go to the appropriate section. I am wondering if anyone else has any thoughts on this?
Also, am I being too kind to PDF readers and their speed relative to one of the office suite products?
Jeff
P.S.
I don't think that massive amounts of resources should be devoted to changing existing documentation, but maybe AMX should look at changing future documentation.
