Hi,
i am looking for some feedback about my touchpanel designs ( http://www.alster-it.de/showroom.htm ).
Please do not hesitate to criticize me.
I would also be glad to see some of your design examples!
Bye. Michael.

First off I can't understand anything on it!

Actually, it looks real slick. On a plus side, any touchpanel that someone of a different language could easily figure out is pretty good to me!

Are these actual touch panel screenshots??

My first impression would be: Good Job! I like that it is simple and rather easy to understand. I like the fact that you managed to mix pictures with text to allow quick understanding of what is going to be controlled.
I also think that you made good use of the space available. The screen appears useful and simple and invites the user to use it.
As I am from the residential end of things, my perspective may not be the best, but these are my initial thoughts.

P.S.
If you want to see something we have done on the residential end, feel free to check out our website at http://www.spireintegrated.com. There is also a virtual touch panel we created based on an actual touch panel design we installed for a client at: http://www.spireintegrated.com/virtualpanel01.htm#. (Please note the graphics look much better on the touchpanel as we reduced the quality in favor of smaller size for the virtual touch panel

Looks great, the use of icons move the pages from local to universal comprehension.

These are all excellent touch panel designs! I have seen some of the worst, including 6 rooms yesterday that were totally unusable due to poor panel layouts. $1M worth of AV equipment sitting there, unusable. You have managed to let the user know at a quick glance what options are available to them, and let them execute those options with the touch of a button.

Those all look great. I usually stick with fairly generic text-based interfaces, mainly because I don't have the means to get icons/graphics as sharp looking as that into projects...
I really hoped there would be a snapshot showing what options were available when you selected "3D Imaging" though.

Hi VLCNCRZR,
yes, these are all actual touchpanel screenshots from G4-PanelPreview. -
Hi Chip Moody,
the "3D Presentation" is just a simple input selection. The system is a 3D passive stereo system (two projectors and a cluster of five Linux PCs - one master, three slaves and one tracking PC -). For "normal" presentations (DVD, Laptop,...) only one projector is used. If the user selects "3D Presentation" the second projector is switched on and the matrix switcher routes the signals to the projectors. After that, there are no more options for the user...
Check out topic "With two LCD projectors" on

Wow... Thanks... That's pretty cool. Not as cool as what I >imagined< you were doing, but cool nonetheless.

Touchpanel simulation
Hi Spire Jeff,
your virtual TP is very nice! I have just finished a touchpanel simulation for my custumers, too.
Have a look on:
http://www.alster-it.de/showroom.htm
and click "Touchpanel Simulation starten" (Flash Player 7.0 required)
(the language of the touchpanel is english!)
