seems impossible to eliminate reverb on my gnx4

<div style="displaynone">fiogf49gjkf0d</div><div style="displaynone">fiogf49gjkf0d</div>i keep coming back to the gnx4 because it has the best suite of features i can find in one box, however it continues to baffle me. in an attempt to \"start from scratch\", i set both channels to direct, set both cabinets to direct, shut off every stompbox effect and despite having a footpedal that should run the guitar straight through, i still have reverb in the output. i'm running a dry signal into the input -- no other pedals -- and xedit shows me that virtually nothing is enabled. where's the reverb coming from and how can i get rid of it? once this problem is solved, i can begin to build the sounds i want.

thanks for any help.

  • check all the recorder outputs as well, check you amp reverb if youre using one
  • <div style="displaynone">fiogf49gjkf0d</div>thanks all for motivating me to go back to the setups and check EVERYTHING. turns out, the aux return dial only \"looked\" zeroed out -- it was cracked open just enough to let some reverb leak through to the amps. the more i putter with the gnx4, the more i appreciate its engineers. and i'm really enjoying it without ubiquitous reverb!

i tried to post a poll, wondering how many gnx4 users there are out there -- no responses, but i see lots of 'em on ebay.

    thanks again for the advice.
  • It's great to hear you're enjoying and appreciating your GNX. It's a pretty old piece of gear by now, and most have moved on to other/newer gear. But there's a pretty devout bunch out there that recognize the GNX as an outstanding device and still favor them. There's a lot of them here, although not too many people are on the forum very often. Speaking for myself, I have TWO GNX4's and wouldn't give them up for anything short of Alex Lifeson's white ES-355. The REAL one. :P
