Alkaline powered GNX4

Is it possible to power a gnx4 on just batteries for street performance?

Has anyone tried this or is it possible at all, just wondering & thanks!!

  • If it is possible, it's unlikely a practical approach. You'd still need some kind of transformer, and with the current GNX draws (I think 1300-1600 mA on average) it would take a lot of batteries to run it long enough.

You're probably better off getting an external power pack, or a small generator.
  • Aren't the GNX power supplies AC, not DC? Pretty sure the GNX3 is, though it's been a while since I checked. So if you had batteries you'd need an inverter as well.

  • AFAIR, they all use the same adapter and have the same power specs, except GNX1 maybe.
  • It wouldn't be worth the expense to run any GNX on DC batteries. You could, but you need powerful 12 v batteries, power invertor (dc to AC converter) , plus the oem AC adaptor.
  • It'd cost a LOT less to get a nice long extension cord. 8)
  • Thanks guys!!

I'm glad there are still people here using the GNX4.

Even though mine is broken down (buttons, pedals not working) I still use it extensively!

    EDIT!

another question, I posted in the past...

After I record on the 8 track and playback to play along, the volume plays too high on the playback, higher than the levels I recorded with, this is really annoying...

Anyone else experience this & fix it?

Before I used the software with the board plugged into the computer to adjust the master levels for playback, but it is always the same, even when I adjust the levels....

Playback is always louder than guitar levels....
