Make Love & War - The Journey
My band Make Love & War just finished mixing/mastering a new track, The Journey. It's the first studio recording featuring our new drummer, bassist, and female vocalist, who have joined the band (at different times) in the last year.

I actually did use GNX3000 for this one (the previous recordings were with Line 6 XTL). Using one of the Eric Johnson presets from the MFX Super Series for the lead sound on the choruses (fast picking part), the David Gilmour preset also MFX for the verses.
The lead sound on the bridge uses a heavily-warped version of XXX Ultimate amp model (again, MFX super series). One thing I decided to try, after watching a documentary on wah pedals, is to emulate the Michael Schenker lead effect. Several guitarists in the documentary commented on how he uses a crybaby rocked close to the heel position - it's a very subtle effect, and it adds quite a bit for the sound. So, on this preset, I assigned the wah pedal position to LFO1 to go between 10 and 40, and LFO2 to adjust LFO1 rate between 0.5 and 2Hz, at a rate of 0.2 Hz. It really helped bring up the harmonics, I think for this kind of slow lead it's an interesting effect - blends nicely with the voice.
This song is going to be featured on a Baltimore, MD local music compilation called Not For Sale (volume 2) due out at the end of this month. We're also going to remix this song for our upcoming EP, due out this summer.
Let me know what you guys think, this is a step in a new direction for us!

Yes, we're planning to do some more music videos, Journey is going to be one of them. We need to finalize all the concepts then start writing/filming... the guy who did the Five to One video had an affair with his drummer's girlfriend, and has since quit his band and ran off to NYC  So we need to find a new video guy.
