Wasteland by 10 Years
James Street Station disbanded earlier this month, so I'm back to doing just the solo gig and home recordings. Thought it fitting that the first song I record at home should be the last song we worked up as a full band.
\"Wasteland\" by 10 Years.
Enjoy!

Sorry to hear the band is done before it really got going.
Hey! At least you got a new bass rig out of the deal. My only crit on the song, other than I like it, is the panning thing you've got going on the lead guitar. When I listen there are drops in the gain that I would have like to have heard at a more constant level, maybe even a bit more out front.
That's just me though. I did enjoy the song. Palm mutes? Hell yeh, count me in.
This is a cover tune originally by the band \"10 Years\". It was on the charts back in 2005 from its release in February, finally hitting #1 in December of that year. It's a phenomenal tune, so if you have Napster or some other means of finding the original song I'd highly recommend adding it to your library.
The panning was a bit of an experiment to try and add some dynamics as compensation for the missing vocals. There aren't really any leads in the actual song, and all higher register guitar parts mainly add ambiance and depth. The original has several guitar tracks which probably aren't represented with 100% accuracy in my version. Such is the challenge of trying to figure out all the nuances heard in over-produced songs these days.
I may try my hand at vocals, though this one occasionally gets a little beyond my range. Still debating on getting our singer to come in and lay down some tracks for it since this is her absolute favorite band of all time. We'll see.
Again, I appreciate the feedback guys.
Some irony...I now have several Line 6 products (HD147, HD100, Pod XT Pro, etc) as well as a Korg/Toneworks Pandora PX5D, but I just can't seem to get the same quality out of them as I do my trusty old GNX3 (which was used for all guitar parts on this tune) when it comes to recording. I may need to buy a used one to keep on hand as backup, just in case
You guys sounded great.

There's better thiings in the future for ya.
