Just me? Or is it getting really quiet in this forum?
I remember getting my GNX4 and being all excited. I found this forum with like minded guys and over the years have learned lots. Used to look forward everyday to new posts and replies from previous threads. My inbox used to full of email notices. Lately, it just seems really quiet around here. Now it seems I see more posts of the GNX4 for sale on eBay then newbies coming to the forum with new excitement and questions. Maybe that's just life.
Before everyone leaves, I just want to say thanks to all you guys for the great advice over the years. And for the laughs. I know when Digitech discontinued the GNX4/workstation concept with no replacement, it really let the air out of my sails. Maybe I'm projecting too much. But I just wanted to make sure I thanked the members and board admin for the fine job all you guys have done over these last years. I guess I'm just missing all the many lively discussions of days gone by on this forum. Or is it just me?

your too loud
I guess the conventional wisdom would be that since the initial focus of the forum has been allowed by DT to pass into technological history, there's a corresponding decline in interest/discussion of it. That sux.
I think there'll always be a certain number of us that are GNX enthusiasts - they'll pry mine out of my cold, dead hands - but this forum won't attract new voices as much, since there's other, newer, different stuff out there. And those of us that love it will gradually move on to other things/gear, or play less, or be busy with Shania (once she starts returning my phone calls...heartless wench...
But there will always be a few of us diehards that come by daily.
That, and surely one of these days one of you slobs will hook me up with Shania...
Being that the self centered, all about me' attitudes rule musicians... so even as the gnx's get sold on e-bay ... those that buy them probably will just stop by to demand answers to a delimma probably covered in the manual. Which is cool, that's why this forums here... But most aren't interested in being a regular participant...
As for me? No one wants to jam with an inexperienced 50yr old.. Gnx will probably find it's place, back in the closet. Till the antique road show comes to town!
I too really enjoyed many of the threads and the fun back and forth on some of the stuff. I do still lurk around here though, just to see what everybody is up to. I loved reading the setlist threads and took many of Guitar 3456's song suggestions to the stage to fatten up our song list. I also enjoyed Taus' many contributions as we watched his cover band grow and mature. And, of course, I am always up for a good Shania thread or hell, even a bad Shania thread.
Maybe see you guys on some of the other Boards?
Peace
JV
I purchased Toontrack's Superior Drummer right after Thanksgiving.(It was 50% off and I had a 15% coupon).
I have been spending a lot of time there. www.toontrack.com .
Between the owner's manual, the power guide, and the forums, and the fact that it really has not been marketed in well over a year,
all the bases have been covered other than newer users using applications for the first time(mics,monitors,etc...).
Another new website I have been checking out is Alan Parsons' www.artandscienceofsound.com .The site is self explanatory.
Later.
Besides, the less time we spend working out repetitive problems, the more time you can all spend fixing me up with Shania 8) .
If anyone is interested, check it out: http://guitarlogic.org
Just don't expect much talk about GNX's. Expect illiace to talk about modes a lot.
Think I got it now, Synths are very fun and cool! Now can see myself EASILY doing searches for recording info for the next year and never asking a question.
But, Love you guys and appreciate all the great info and support!
IS IT THEN BETTER WHEN WE WRITE ANYTHING IN CAPITAL LETTERS?
sry, my hobby does hinder my hearing capability
That might be a kickstart for the forum. Post some \"how-to\"s about midi in Sonar.
That said, I also hope that those of us who are still interested in the GNX's - and maybe DT too - will continue to revel in it's excellent-ness.
That said...and this may be fodder for another thread, but...why is the only thing anyone's interested in these days is computer recording issues? To me, recording music on a personal computer is like using a tweezers to lift a car.
What's up? 8)
Ya things are kinda quiet round but it's understandable. I don't check in everyday anymore but still pop in every once in a while plus I don't spend as much times with my guitars as I'd like to.
Getting your hands on a PC is way easier than a Macbook and cheaper. Unfortunetly there are a lot more problems with PC's than Mac.
Wish I had the money for a Mac.
Anyway Peace guys 8)
You got a product, that's discontinued..What's left to talk about??
Digitech should really research putting out an updated version of the GNX4. Somthing like a poor mans Axe Effex. I'd buy it in a heart beat..
I do chk it out here every once in a while but not everyday like I used to. I do like to chk in at kewlpacks forum thestompbox.net
Rock on my fellow axemen
and God bless
AlbertO and his crew stopping by to pay their last respects too?
How about a gnx4 reunion, class of 05'
Most of the posts are actually discussions of usages and even about live use experiences... not too many topics starting .. \"guess what movie I saw\"
Really though...I agree with 'tal. With the GNX having been abandoned, the only people interested in it are those of us who have and love them. I think we should have a 'class reunion'.
But once I have a home (and a studio) again, I plan to resume posting my noodlings, most of which are done on the GNX...stand by for greatness!
