He shoots... He scores!
Hey Flo... you have the manual?
I don't have an rp.. But have you tried a factory reset? I assume that can be done on those... Check the power supply and PS connection ,, Have you tried blowing it out? To makes sure their isn't any dirt preventing a contact conection or short?
Just a few things you might look at, before signing the death certificate...
Well, it's all subjective.... Once upon a time I would drop a grand or 2 or 3 whatever at a whim it was no big deal.... Now I have to decide how long I want to let strings go before I decide to get new ones and for go the gallon of milk!
There are those who say gnx?! Old tech mate .. why don't you upgrade? Can't afford too. Besides I'm still satisfied with the gnx... Perhaps flo can't or is still comfortable with rp 80? Or she just wants to tinker with it to see if she can keep it alive ... who knows... cept her... Takin a guess here, but if she had 5 bills to lay out for new gear .. pretty sure she wouldn't be here asking for suggestions on keeping her rp80 going!
Just thought.. I'm probably wrong. Usually are.
My real point is this. The lower priced electonics are throw away products. Not meant to be fixed after a certain life span time period. However, my rp250 had a master re-set. The instruction were in the manual. here is a link to the manual for the rp80.

The replacements at the same price as you paid for the original are better equiped. IE. the RP90 has more presets and stompbox effects then the rp80 and sells ro 99.95 at musciansfriend. How much frustration is 99.95 worth to you in trying to fix the rp80? If you don't know what you;re doing with trying to fix it? You could spend 5 hours tearing into the thing and not fix it and still have to replace it.
This function resets the RP80 to its original factory settings. This procedure erases all
custom user presets. Performing this function erases all user-programmed data.
All such data will be lost forever!
The procedure for performing a Factory Reset is as follows:
1. Disconnect the power supply from the RP80 (AC Power) or unplug the guitar from the
input jack (battery power).
2. Press and hold the left EDIT button while re-connecting the power or plugging your
guitar into the RP80’s input.
3.When the display reads --, release the button and press the STORE button. The display
reads rE. The RP80 is now restored to its factory settings.
