RP1000 ???
I have a GNX3 and I was looking for a possible alternative to upgrade to (if the new unit is better).
I went to a Guitar Center and there it was, the RP1000, in all its glory. I jumped on one of the stools, and had a go. I absolutely LOVE the construction. This thing was a tank. But I soon found myself stumbling around with the patches, etc. I simply couldn't find sounds that made me go \"wow\" and purchase it on the spot. The construction alone almost had me, but the sounds simply weren't there.
I completely blame myself for this shortfall, since I don't know how to work the unit. It works differently from the GNX. So, I had on of the salesmen stop by to tell me that he has the RP500 and loves it. I asked him to show me around the controls and lets see what this thing can do. He knew what he was doing, but he was getting the same non-stunning sounds I was. It might be the fact that the factory patches sucked as they did on the GNX3. It took me a while to create a patch that I was satisfied with on that unit also.
I hooked up the output to several different cabs, but each one sounded basically the same. I wasn't looking for a completely distorted sound, like death metal (found that patch), I was looking for something more along the lines of a nice Blackmore, Trower, or even a Lynch tone. I couldn't find it, and neither could the salesman. The guy was great, but after 45 minutes of trying, I bailed.
I am sure this thing can do much more than I witnessed. Has anyone else checked out the RP1000???? IF so, what were your findings?
