Instrument or speaker cable?

I have 2 Roland KC350 amps that I want to run using thier linked mode. The manual says to use a 1/4\" audio cable, but its not clear whether this should be an instrument cable or a speaker cable. It seems like it ought to be an instrument cable, because the slave amp will still be using its power section. But, if that's true, I really need a longer instrument cable. Does GC usually carry 20 or 25' instrument cables?

If the one amp is passing the other amp a signal-level signal, than an instrument cable is fine. If it's passing a speaker-level signal, than you need a speaker cable.
Not knowing what the manual sez, I'd be willing to bet that the first amp is sharing it's preamp signal with the second amp, so an instrument cable is probly fine.
And yes, you can get instrument cables in any length, 20-30' easy, often 50', sometimes even 100'. Or you can make your own...
  • Sometimes a good way to tell is whether there's a danger and a voltage label on the output. If there is, go with a speaker cable.
