Free Movies and TV shows online

In response to another thread to what appears to be a spammer trying to lure us into buying a membership into his \"free\" service, I thought it might be interesting for us to come up with some truely free online services that do provide TV/Movies and music related content that might be of concern to those of us on this forum.

Recently I noticed that YouTube www.youtube.com listed some HD full length movies for free viewing. Yeah, old stuff, but someone might be interested in those classics. Also, I visit YouTube when learning new songs on the guitar hoping that someone there can show me how to play it right. Lots of good gear and software reviews for our musical G.A.S. attacks.

Another service I have become aware of is Hulu.com www.hulu.com where, after a short advertisment, you can watch a TV show or movie for free. I'll sit through a 30 second commercial if I want to see the program.

Times are changing fast and I would like to see more music related TV shows and movies on the internet for free viewing. For example, in the 70's I grew up with a couple of shows I think were called \"Midnight Special\" and \"Don Kirshner's Rock Show\". Someone help me out there, I can't remember the exact titles, but maybe those old weekly TV shows are available online for free viewing. That would be neat.

Google Videos also have some good stuff there. I got some great demo's of my mixing board and how to use it before I made my purchase. There were two instructional demo's on my mixer, each about 50 minutes long, and the guy went through every major feature of my board. Of course, both YouTube and Google Video have lots of music videos. Might as well watch them there because you can't see any music videos on MTV anymore.

I'm a pretty late adopter, so forgive me if I am telling you old news about what's available online for free. If you have some sites that you could add to this list, that would be great. I'm more interested in the music aspect and would like to know if there are any concert videos or music instruction videos out there for free viewing.

If you like old audio rock concerts, a la \"King Biscuit Flower Hour\", check out Wolfgang's Vault http://www.wolfgangsvault.com/ for free streaming audio programs. You can purchase the same programs for download if you want. I have a recorder with a \"REC\" button that does the job for me. But you can find lots of great concerts to listen for free.

Oh yeah, I use a program called Any Video Converter Free to download and save YouTube and Google Videos to my harddrive. It will also convert the videos to a format to use on your iPod, TV, etc.... Check it out at http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/.

Well, that's pretty much all I know about this stuff at the moment. Maybe you guys can help fill out a better list, if interested. Take care.

  • Thanks for some of that info taus.

I have utilized hulu.. But times are changing...I heard hulu may be going to a pay format of sort. Gas pump girls :!: nice 70's B- movie Boobies galore LoL.. There's only like 3 tv shows I watch, sometimes I will go watch an episode there at hulu if I miss it..
  • Personally, I just don't have the time to take advantage of all the \"free\" stuff out there to watch and/or listen to on the computer. In addition to all those free internet sites I mentioned, I have a PC Media Center (Sage TV) recording shows for me all the time. I have a 1TB drive in the machine and over the past year it is almost full of shows and movies that I have not had the time to watch. I did a quick look at the stats of my recorded shows that I have not watched and it reports that I have 24 days 15 hours 54 minutes of unwatched recordings (985.16 GB). So, I often end up deleting shows before I even watch them because I just don't have the time to watch everything I would like.

It would be nice to get a list of music related sites and content on the internet that are free. I'm sure others have more ideas than just my suggestions of Hulu, YouTube and Google Videos. More and more free online services are popping up all the time. As my favorite guitar magazines are dying, it would be nice to know where to go on the internet to get my music fix.
  • Has anybody found that \"free dates with Shania\" site I've been spending 3-1/2 hours a day looking for looking for???
