Chord Progression???

Okay, I'm self taught so I don't know alot things like, what key I'm playin in(well sometimes), music theory, and chord progression-just to name a few.
My son is in college for Recording Arts and sometimes will ask me some simple questions-this time not so easy- and the question:What is the chord progression for Citizen Soldier by Three Doors Down :? er uh chord progression  It starts with C#m, then E, then F#m playin on guitar. I don't think thats it dad. So I said \"hey let me ask the professionals on guitar workstation forum--so, here I am. Anybody out there help out with this? Is this something simple to figure out?

    It's an open C tuning. -- C--G--C--G--C--E

The Key is: C# natural minor scale
The Chord Progression is: Natural minor triads i-ii-III-iv-v-VI-VII
All the notes in that progression are: C#--D#--E--F#--G#--A--B
Natural minor scale harmonized with triad chords.

This is an example of the song; (remember, open C tuning)

    C#m (i)
    E (III)
    F#m (iv)
    A (VI)

(edit...heh heh I don't pretend to know this song, so I'm guessing)
(I looked at it on GuitarPro with the drop tuning... I can't find a transcript with the proper tuning)
  • Woahhh!!! Thanks manitou. I knew somebody would know. I appreciate it!
  • I'm curious how well this shows up.
Just a downloaded page. Maybe a screen shot would work better? dunno.
Clean guitar first part, and distorted guitar first part.

This shot is harder to see, but it's open strings (000)
    3rd fret (333)
    8th fret (888) slide up to 10th (10 10 10)

(24th bar) 8th fret /7th fret (etc)/3rd/3rd/3rd/5th then open strings
song pretty much keeps this idea of harmonic triads

This idea of posting like this thumbdown.gif ... I wish I knew how to post a click on image to full size. I could email you the sheet music if you want.
  • Manitou, you are a wealth of info--thanks, i do appreciate it. And, yes I can read it-so it must be legable with my old eyes. Thanks again.
