Neck Pickups

Hey guys, been a while since I posted anything but like Big Brother, I've been watching wa ha ha ha!!  Anyhows, thought I would ask anyone out there if they've had anything to do with Lundgren pickups or the new DiMarzio LiquiFire by any chance?

Similiar to what happens to most musicians at some stage, I'm bored and would like to gamble with the off-chance of ruining one of my guitars by playing about with neck pickups! :D

Many thanks,

  • I am a big fan of DiMarzio pickups.
    I found this on YouTube.
  • Thanks for that Tou. I've looked into the LiquiFire but they haven't arrived here in Oz just yet so I'll have to keep an eye out for them.

I heard that Lundgren pickups are used for some of the Ibanez Custom Shop axes - is this true??

Didn't know about this pup until you mentioned them. Sniffed around and appears Ibanez does like them on some custom shop guitars.
After checking out the pickup, I can see why.

 :? Nup - that aint me I'm afraid!! But well spotted Tou, I didn't notice that before...

I sent an email to Lundgren a couple of weeks ago to see if he could recommend a nice warm neck pickup that match well with the S.Duncan JB I have in the bridge of my ESP Horizon. He thought the Smooth Operator or Heaven 57' would both match really well, although he did say the Operator had a bit more power. I'm really tempted to try one, but as always have no way of listening to a real one where I live - just gonna have to take the plunge I think! :D
  • Dimarzzio is really good for guitar pickups. But you can also try Seymour Duncan Parley Gates pickup for neck position. It works really good in neck position. it has very warm sound.

Pearly Gates are good, I've got a Seymour Duncan 59 in the neck now and I wouldn't mind something with a bit more punch to match the bridge S/D JB. I ordered a DiMarzio LiquiFire the other day so I'll try it first. Its a cheaper pickup than the Lundgren so if I don't like it I can live with the cost kinda. I don't think the LiquiFire has arrived here just yet so it might be a wait for it.
