X-Edit for RP150 crashes before it even opens up.

Please help if you can.....new and clueless  I just updated my RP150 online today. Went from 1.0 version to 1.6, installed the drivers, and X-edit. The problem is that as soon as I open X-edit it says it has to close. I uninstalled and reinstalled it but still the same.... Is it because NET 2.0 has gone to 3.0 maybe?? Did I screw up the install some how? Or is the software out of date? Would appreciate any help here. Thanks!

  • No, I have gone to great lengths to keep sp3 off my HP, I have seen 3 of them go to the bone yard after sp3 was installed. Is it a necessary component for x-edit to work?
  • No, I see on the software downloads they list SP2.
I'm using XP SP3 and had no problems, and I'm also using an RP 150.

Did you disable your internet security before downloading?
  • That would be a \"No\" I will try that. Thanks!
  • Well I did that...and still it crashes as soon as it is launched. And now I saw something that said my usb device was not working. It has always worked before. I have it at 1.6 firmware, and I reinstalled the drivers, with antivirus off. I went to microsoft via the link for NET 2.0 but I already have 3.0 and it won't download that either. So I am lost.
  • Do you have an HP ? Those are the ones that crash with sp3. Did you do all these updates? The home page here said that 1.5 was the current version, yet I was upgraded to 1.6. maybe this is the problem? Thanks for your help.
  • HP! I will never , ever , ever frickon ever buy an HP again unless it is a printer an even them are starting to piss me OOF!

I have heard an been told to debug
The point is X-edit likes a clean house to move into, check for virus ans any other malware and defrag to git that HD a litle origanized and give it another shot

Yes, I have an HP Compaq laptop with XP Pro SP3 using BitDefender. I update everything, and run Mozilla Firefox and Explorer 8. I use Firefox for my online downloads. I was updated to 1.6 also.

I'll check into this again, and see what I might come up with. How about your browser? Are you using Explorer 7 at least? Sometimes your browser securities are behind updates, and that will prevent online downloads. (security lockouts) Do you have problems downloading other software?
  • I also use Firefox and IE8. It seems that updating and installing Xvid crashed my drivers or something.....my RP150 no longer works with my computer. not recognized at all. I had to do a system restore. I am so mad, I wish I had not updated the thing at all. I used to record with Audacity, it worked fine. Now it doesn't. I was in the middle of a project too. This update has ruined my RP150 and screwed up my computer. I can't even restore the old drivers because they are nowhere to be found.
  • I know with X-Edit, it wants you to stay with the same USB port you first installed the drivers, all the time. I've heard of not finding the drivers again, after a crash. Let me ask a Bro if he can help. This is past my experience.
  • At this point I would just like my old drivers back and forget xedit. Is that possible?
Audacity has worked for me just fine until now. I sure appreciate your help.

    Zen,
Feel your pain Bro...and I'm asking around.
Hang in there for now, and maybe just throw some cats into traffic. :)
