Using the RP50 as a Bass Pedal (BP50)?

I am putting together a portable (battery) bass amp setup. I have an RP50, which I bought years ago, that also runs on batteries. I am wondering if anyone here has the knowledge to convert some of the BP50 sounds to use on the RP50. I know that the BP50 was designed for the bass guitar and the amp models are bass amps, but is it possible to reprogram (user presets?) the RP50 to get the same/comparable sounds as the BP50?

The RP50 and BP50 forums are pretty much dead. The last preset posted for the BP50 was 2006, so I figure it's a waste of time asking this question there. My old RP50 is just sitting in a storage bag never being used (I now have a GNX4), so I am just trying to breathe new life into gear that I already have. If my idea is a waste of time, I'd like to know that too.

By the way, I did post this question in the RP50 forum, which is not very active, and the only response I got was that you can jack the bass guitar into the RP50, or even a keyboard, or vocals because it's just a digital interface. That's not what I was looking for. I want to know if it is possible to reprogram the RP50 to get good bass tones with bass amp models much as the BP50. Any suggestions most welcomed.

  • My brother has a BP50, which he hasn't used since I converted my GNX3 to BNX3 and gave it to him for his birthday. However, I don't think there is a similar conversion for RP50->BP50, since there is no \"firmware update\" option available.
  • I think you should use bp 50.

Well, I agree. But like I said, I already have the RP50 which is no longer being used because I have a GNX4. I'm just trying to use what I have before thinking about buying yet another pedal. My GNX4 works fine for my bass and guitar, but it's not battery powered for portable use. I'd love to trade my RP50 for a BP50 if anyone is interested.
