Great American Guitar Show in Valley Forge PA today!

Was a good time. Lots of vintage higher end guitars. Really sweet stuff that was way out of my price range.

I went to dig the scene and look for a deal on a vintage amp. There weren't that many amps at all, but I did find a new amp that blew my freakin' socks off! The ElectroKing by Victoria! Holy Cow! The richest tremelo sound, I was instantly hooked and inspired! Amazing tone, clarity and warmth. This amp I am saving for already. I went with a grand and I am putting it all aside for the ElectroKing (2600). Totally gorgeous tone.

I tried out a '66 Fender Pro Reverb put into a 70's chassis, and a 70's Gibson amp, but both had electical problems with the footswitch. Not many amps at all. Orange had a little stand, (and a really cool micro amp).

There was a new hand wired amp company from my little hometown of Pottstown PA. I will check them out more tomorrow.

Gonna pick up a effects box or two tomorrow as well. An analog delay. It was cool seeing a bunch of the handpainted ZVex boxes. Totally rad!!!

Roland's V Guitar booth had a bunch of sick sounds coming from it. Some truly infinite sustain going on over there.

Saw the PRS amps but didn't get to hear them.

Sold two guys on the Fulltone OCD pedal. I love that thing!!

Any requests for pics or video? I will be going tomorrow to get a few shots. If anyone is anywhere near the Valley Forge/King of Prussia/Philly area, try and come out to the show!

  • Is there a website? Anybody streaming anything?
  • The website is really limited and only gives the raw info on the show. The show itself happens twice a year, once in July and again in November. There are guys from up and down the east coast and the south.

I will be shooting some video today and will link it later. Hopefully tonight.
  • Right now is probably a great time to buy yourself a Vintage ax.
Man, I only wish... but God Bless anyone who is scoring a great ax right now.

Lots of guys are like me...selling their prize guitars to keep from loosing worse.
I recently had to sell my 1974 Gibson L6-S 'cuz of the rotten recession.
  • Video is just about finished (5 minutes or so to go) will be up shortly. My first ever youtube video, but I spent some time on it, made some cool litle edits. I hope you will enjoy. ...one moment...
  • My first ever youtube video! Hope you enjoy! Put some work into the audio and editing to make it smooth and fun. The V-Guitar is amazing imo.

  • <div style="displaynone">fiogf49gjkf0d</div>I'm from Pottstown too. I was at the show for a little while. Saw the guy from Pottstown. I've talked to him before. I think my brother did a feature story on him in the local paper. I guess he's making a living doing this, as that was probably a year and a half or more ago. He seemed pretty knowledgeable.

The show seems mostly about vintage stuff, but it would be nice to see some booths from the major companies. Martin used to have a much larger area with more guitars. Unless you look for them, you'd miss 'em. Gibson used to have a nice booth but they've been gone from the last several shows I've gone to. I think Warrier (with Rick Derringer getting $10 for his signature on a picture) were missing from this one too. There were some other nice custom guitar makers there.

Ah feel yo payne, brutha. I recently had to cancel an order for a Gib Custom Shop Alex Lifeson ES-355 Signature model they were making special for me. 'Cuz of the recession (oh yeah - that, plus not having a JOB...).
  • Anybody seen my video yet? It's the first one I've ever made, but I think it's really good. Let me know what you think of it. And I really would love to hear some feedback on that V-Guitar rig from Roland (Sick!!!) Anyone?
  • Okidocki then. :) I'll try. ............. thumbdown.gif Manitou's Film Criteek... 5 cents. (still cheap) thumb.gif

I appreciated your effort, and I watched it all, as well as your second installment...DJ Willyum.
Good for your first attempt, but to offer you feedback; For me, it was hard on the eyes.
Walking with the camera, panning, focusing up and down, zooming in and out are all tough to watch, and has too much jutter, and dizziness :?
This has been my pet peeve even with pro filmmakers. They get too crazy with the fast panning, and rapid montage.

Try picking a subject, like guitars for example, and give steady clear shots, and limit fast movements, or unsteadiness. Set the stage so to speak, discussing what you are showing. Keep on topic, then let the audience know what you are going onto next.
Transitioning between subjects is a good place to apply your special effects.

Did you forget to show us the amps you were interested in? :P

Feature or highlight what you want to share. Let us know what you are featuring. Your favorite guitars, or rare hard to find, or affordable deals, etc. Same thing with any of the other stuff you want to film. Tell us what you are showing. That will help limit the panning around to show what you are trying to share.

With interviews, show clear steady views. The focus, zooming, panning, etc. only gets in the way. General overviews are great, but included where they offer perspective, or eliminated where they really don't add anything. Be more forthright in your interview, by making a list of questions to prompt from, even if you need to go over the subjects first, unless you are looking for unscripted, or spontaneous.

You need to toss in some T & A....one fine set of jugs, or a heavenly hinney. What about the ample-breasted redheaded guitar stand. :D Something none of us can afford. :D
Seriously though, good job, and there were some nice moments captured.
    Thanks Olah! thumb.gif

    About the Roland...... :?
I'm really not the guy to get feedback on that. I've taken my interests in the opposite direction. (plain and simple) I am sure this is the future of guitar music, but all this high tech wizardry is like overkill, and marketing frenzy to me. Half this stuff is ka-ka doo-doo in my opinion, where as some of it is genius. I have been simplifying my gear to the sounds I need and enjoy, without becoming a PhDffft. geek over it all. Less to fiddle with or break...but I do appreciate the G.A.S.

Sorry dude. I watched it probably not to long after you posted. But I had not the time to post a reply.

Aside from the finer points already mentioned. I thought it was pretty good vid for your first one!

The things I was going to mention was It was very blurry like it was it out focus or low pixel counts , don't know if it was cam shake or not. LoL
probably just my puter and player! It did seem to clear up when you stood in one place and didn't move! (tripod) But I have to agree with manitoulio, I was expecting to see them ampes you was harping on, and as mentioned too. The eye candy that was drawing the crowd at the booth! ( I'm thinking tube/halter top , daisy dukes dang I miss the seventies ..... oh ya your vid! )

Did you have to go down them stairs? A lil longer still an slow pan of the main display area from the top of the stairs, at the bigging would have been nice imo And a nice set point to come back to! For instance I might have used that afore mentioned shot to throw in everytime I switched from one booth to another, just not as long as the opening shot! jmo throwing some ideers out there .

Ya over all definitely very good for a first timer! 8) 8) WTG!

ya the walking has it's place, just not so much of it. I know I can put 40 hrs easy into a 20 - 30 min. vid. One of the things I always 'fret' about is length of scene... I find generally 10 sec seems to be good but it varies depending on the content and how long I want someone to scour the scene!

Maybe Ken Burns has an online documentary course? mmmmm.

Well it past 4, time to take the k9 fer his jaunt... Later Is this it olah or is there other ins tall ment s ?

Thanks fer taking the time on this one.. enjoyed it!
